Moi and Hey!
First day on the campus
Today the "orientation week" for exchange students at Metropolia University of Applied Sciences started at 09.30. First of all we had to register ourselves and got a (transponder) key as well as a "study certificate" to proove that we're students of our university and we got our lunch card which enables us to get cheaper lunch at the cafeteria.
At 10.00 the introduction of our university was started by Eija Tamminen, who is responsible for all Business Administration exchange students coming to Myyrmäki campus. Furthermore she supported us with some general practical information about residence permit, notification of move, travel cards for public transport, accomodation at HOAS, healthcare, international day and so on. Because I'm EU citizen I most of these things don't apply to me, so for me it was quite boring.
At 11.30 we started our lunch brake to have lunch at our cafeteria. They offer 3 or 4 different menues every day you can choose from. This meals are sold for EUR 2,60 and you can take as much salad and bread as you like. That's the perfect opportunity to get good food for less money.
The food was quite tasty ... I had something like "Würstelgulasch"with potatoes and some mixed salad.
At 13.00 we started again with the second part of the introduction. Now, the person in charge for the newly setup Intranet "tuubi" was at our place. He described how our intranet works ... unfortunately we haven't got our login details yet, so we can't use all these information we got :P.
Nevertheless, the system is still quite faulty and SLOW (even slower than the RK Baden intranet *gg*).
After a short introduction of how to find rooms within the buildings and other campuses (like Leppävaara), we ended the introduction session for today at arround 14.30.
Tomorrow we have to be at Leppävaara campus which is a bit farther than Myyrmäki, as I leave in Kannelmäki.
Some more pics of "my" Myyrmäki campus:
Shopping
On the way from Myyrmäki campus to the train station we have to pass the Myyrmanni shopping mall, which is huge. They have a K-Citymarket which is like Eurospar in Austria or even larger (maybe as big as Carrefour stores), Intersport, Subway, Mc Donalds, Hesburger, some Cafes and many more. That's the perfect mall for allday-shopping on the way from the campus back home.
Now, I'll go and look what I'm going to have for dinner today. :-).
